HOT NUGGET - This is a board with volume and narrowed tail in conjunction with a 2 + 1 fin system. This gives the board great handling in big, powerful surf and puts it in the Tuflite “High Performance” category of longboards. A lot of boards just take off and go way too fast on their own in big surf. To control this one needs to shave off volume or add more rocker. Add too much rocker and the board loses its quick sliding feel down the face. This is the perennial dilemma of the longboard shaper. How does one shape a board to do performance maneuvers without sacrificing the elegant grace? The Hot Nugget is a humble effort to find equilibrium between these two concepts. You can charge big waves on it and keep the aesthetics of classic carving. The board is pretty thin overall, which makes it a good board for the ladies and performance surfers.
