Channel Islands Proton

Manufacturer Description
The Proton by Channel Island is the board that AL and Dane designed during his 2007 WCT qualification year. While traveling and surfing various types of waves, Dane found The Proton suited his surfing in all conditions. Original and truly unique from any other board in our line. This board has continuous rocker throughout. The bottom consists of a deep single concave, and full rails. Dane normally rides a 2 3/8” MBM and orders his Protons at 2 ¼”, so order yours a 1/8” thinner. “I like the responsive, quick feeling I get out of the Proton, and I am excited to have this board as my model.” Quotes and logo - Dane Reynolds WHO SHOULD RIDE THIS BOARD :: Dane is a front footed surfer; he drives off the front foot for speed and transitions to his back foot for turns. Designed for one of the worlds most progressive surfers means the Proton has to be ridden aggressively.

Looking for a retro board that works well in rolling reef breaks

This board crushes it on big fast waves! Ride it like a snowboard -- big carves and powerful front-footed maneuvers. Not great for grovelling or snap turns. Best shortboard I've ridden over the years.

Not for beginner or intermediate surfers. For advanced surfers only, this board is 2nd to none in powerful waist to 2-3 ft over head.
